Birth of Venus Statue

The Birth of Venus Statue is a replica crafted as an image of a painting by Sandro Botticelli probably made in the mid 1480s. It depicts the goddess Venus arriving at the shore after her birth, when she had emerged from the sea fully-grown. The painting is in the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, Italy.

In Greek mythology, Aphrodite/Venus is the goddess of love, beauty and sexual rapture. Known to incite feelings of love and lust wherever she goes, Aphrodite/Venus loved and was loved by many gods and mortals. Among her mortal lovers, the most famous was perhaps Adonis.

The Roman Goddess of Love, Venus (Greek Aphrodite) was also Goddess of the Oceans. As Goddess of Sexual Love, her worship by the Romans included temple instructions in sacred sexual techniques for achieving heightened spiritual consciousness.
